I'll need to get back with you about the configurations and GPU settings. The old PC runs Windows 10 home and it's been installed on it for years, I think a refresh/reset was done like a year ago. All three monitors were on, I had a couple browsers open, but wasn't playing a movie or anything.īoth have Windows 10, the gaming PC has 10 Pro and the install is fresh (installed mid-December). So old PC 1080p Hz TV, game PC widscreen 1440 75Hz monitor. For the gaming PC I tested the game on the 1440 monitor. The gaming PC is hooked up to three monitors, two monitors running at 1080p, one is 60Hz other is 165Hz if I remember correctly, and the other is 1440 75Hz. The older PC I'm using I tested out when it was hooked up to the TV, which is 1080p and 60Hz. The tests are not "lab controlled" at all. Hopefully I can get some help here, Reddit mods delete anything I ever post. Could the slower refresh rate on the left monitor slow down everything? It's not used when I'm gaming so that doesn't seem to make sense to me and the old 1080p TV I have connected to the PC with my GTX 1080 is only capable of 60p, so I can't see that being the issue. ![]() I don't know if it's an issue with something in the BIOS, I've never fiddled with anything in the BIOS before beyond changing boot order and I think I toggled the XMP option when I first put the computer together. Also aware of the firmware issue with the Samsung 980 Pro and 990 Pro drives and verified that my firmware is not affected.Īt this point I'm stumped. Not enough free space on my drive - Mentioned above, but have well over a TB of free space on both SSD'. Only issue I see is my left monitor is at 60Hz and I think it's capable of 144Hz but the display port on the monitor isn't working so I need to use HDMI. Use a Display Port cable - I'm using one, brand new supposed to support 8k.Ĭheck the refresh rate in settings - Checked that in both Windows settings and in Nvidia Control Panel, everything is maxed out. I tried to looking around to see if other people ran into the issue I'm having and most of what I'm seeing is ĭisable VSync - Tried it, made no difference to FPS and notice a lot of tearing (not sure if that's the right word) or graphical issues. But 120 FPS seems drastic, especially when the 3080 is so much more capable than my 1080. So I know the old machine will get a performance boost from not having to run at the higher resolution my new PC is using. The "old" computer is connected to a 42" Samsung TV, only capable of 1080p. I put old PC in quotes because I've upgraded the motherboard and CPU from the 2700k that I had in it to a TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi and a 12600k, and G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 32GB DDR5 6000 memory, but I'm still using the same hard drives, PSU, OS, and my old GTX 1080. The old PC is showing me I'm getting around 180 FPS. Today I decided I would compare how my "old PC" runs GTA5 compared to my new PC. The game runs fine and no issues with the map so far, but my frames will not go past 59-60. This week I went back to playing GTA5 thinking I would notice an increase in performance, my old PC ran the game fine (around 70 FPS) but the map would usually case the frames to dip into the low double digits, sometimes as low as 12 FPS. ![]() I know I can't compare my setup with something I see on YouTube, but I figure it can still be used as a baseline or a reference of where my PC should be. I've been looking at benchmarks (mostly Gamers Nexus) and it kind of hit me that something might be off with my PC. I've only used the system to remote into work and play games, my old setup was about 10 years old so when I compared the FPS in Cyberpunk I was happy, I went from something like 25 FPS to over 70 FPS. PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 1200W C has 1.44 TB free, game drive E has 1.38 TB free Storage: (Two) 2TB Samsung 980 Pro, Windows 10 and programs are installed on one SSD, games are on the other. Memory: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6600 The components are ĬPU cooler: CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX I'm not sure if this is a hardware, software, or gaming issue but thought it made more sense here.Ī few months ago I assembled a new PC.
